The Fernwood String Quartet resumes its summer series at Timucua with a program of romantic and early modern composers: The program centers around Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s lush, passionate quartet in a Minor op. 13 that he wrote as an 18 year-old in 1827, and Dmitri Shostakovich’s harsh and concise quartet No. 7 which he wrote in 1960. Two works that take the expressive capabilities of string quartet playing to very different extremes.
Two shows: The first one at 7pm, the second one at 8:30pm. Same program, so come when it’s most convenient!
Our lineup for this program: Julia Gessinger and Andreas Volmer, violin; Juan Carlos Siviero, viola; and Hanrich Claassen, cello.
Admission is free, donations more than welcome!
