The Fernwood Quartet will return to the University Club of Winter Park with a program of romantic and early modern composers: The program centers around Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s lush, passionate quartet in a Minor op. 13 that he wrote as an 18 year-old in 1827, and Dmitri Shostakovich’s harsh and concise quartet No. 7 which he wrote in 1960. Two works that take the expressive capabilities of string quartet playing to very different extremes.
